3D for startups

Production notes

3D visuals to launch your product. One model, the whole launch.

A startup launching a physical product has to show it everywhere, often before it has stock, and on a tight budget. A well-built 3D scene serves the website, the pre-order page, the investor deck and social media, then gets updated when the product changes.

In short: 3D lets a startup show its product from every angle, in exploded view and in motion, without a photo studio or a perfect prototype. The same model serves every launch visual. One image from one angle costs €450 to €600 excl. VAT; three angles, €700 to €1,100 excl. VAT; an animated packshot up to 15 s, €900 to €1,800 excl. VAT.

What I offer startups: 3D packshots, exploded views and films of your product for your website, pre-orders, investors and social media, made remotely, with previews to approve at each step.

Production notes

What a startup needs to show

At launch, the same questions come up: what the product looks like, how it is used, what it is made of. The website, the pre-order page and the investor deck have to answer them in a few images.

A photo shoot needs a finished product, a studio and often a reshoot for every new version. In 3D, the product is built once, then framed, lit and animated as often as needed.

The Norma disc example

Norma is a stainless steel disc: you scan it with your iPhone to make the apps you chose disappear, then scan it again to get them back. According to the brand’s website, it has no battery and no subscription.

For Nor.ma, I made 3D packshots of the disc: stacked, in exploded view, on a light desk, and in front of a screen showing the brand’s website.

One model for the whole launch

A product’s 3D scene lasts a long time. The same files produce the website image, the pre-order views, an exploded view that explains how it works, and short films for social media.

When the product changes, with a new finish, a second version or another colorway, the scene is reused and rendered again. The cost depends on how big the change is and is set in the quote.

What to supply

The product’s 3D or CAD file, preferably STEP, the planned finishes, your vector logos, mood references and where the images will run. Without a file, the product is modeled from dimensioned drawings and photos, which takes longer.

If the product isn’t made yet, the guide on visualizing a product before manufacturing explains what 3D replaces, and what it doesn’t.

What I offer startups

3D packshots, exploded views and films in Cinema 4D and Octane, remotely, in French or English. An NDA is possible depending on the contract, for a product that isn’t announced yet.

One image from one angle costs €450 to €600 excl. VAT; three angles, €700 to €1,100 excl. VAT; an animated packshot up to 15 s (product rotation or camera path), €900 to €1,800 excl. VAT. A staged film is priced on quote. Set design starts at €300 excl. VAT per image with a supplied 3D file; without one, it is priced on quote.

My personal concepts show this work too, without any commission from those brands: an imagined iPhone 18 Pro Max and a film featuring the Asus Vivobook S14, made with Samuel Milard.

Frequently asked questions

Why would a startup choose 3D over photography?

Because the same model serves every launch visual, with no finished product or studio needed, and it gets updated when the product changes.

Do I need a prototype for 3D renders?

No. The CAD file is enough, or dimensioned drawings and photos. A material sample helps with finishes.

How much do 3D launch visuals cost?

One image from one angle, €450 to €600 excl. VAT; three angles, €700 to €1,100 excl. VAT; an animated packshot up to 15 s, €900 to €1,800 excl. VAT.

Can you work with a startup abroad?

Yes, remotely, in French or English, with previews to approve at each step. NDA and white label are possible depending on your contract.
